I am going to surprise my kiddos with their first concert this year. I just bought tickets for The Jonas Brothers at the Hollywood Bowl. I think I may be as excited as they are, not because we haven’t seen much live music over the past year, but because we get to go together. The only concert I went to with a parent was Bette Midler with my mom. It was super nice, but it wasn’t the Jo Bros at the Bowl.
My first concert was Simple Minds, at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, California, when I was thirteen. I almost didn’t get to go because I did something stupid and almost got grounded. Can’t remember what it was, but I talked my way into going to the concert somehow, and had a blast.
And that was it, I was hooked. I became a concert going freak and spent all of my hard earned money to go to the next show. I went to small venues, big shows, festivals, music halls, street scenes and dive bars to see anyone and everyone. INXS, Sting, Billy Idol, No Doubt, Pennywise, Reggae Fests, U2, Lenny Kravitz, KC and the Sunshine Band, Bush, Pearl Jam, 311, The Gap Band, Sublime, Smashing Pumpkins, Janet Jackson, The Eagles, Usher, New Edition, Keith Sweat, PowerHouse, Barbra Streisand, Hallowrena, Blues Traveler, Bette Midler, Naughty By Nature, Beastie Boys, and about 15 Dave Matthews Band concerts. I’m sure there are more, but I can’t remember all of them. Damn I wish I had all of the ticket stubs, remember those?
I can’t wait to share the news with my littles and head to Hollywood. The last time I was at the Bowl I was pregnant with Scarlett seeing DMB for the second time in a week. I like to say that was her first concert, but this is really it. The Jonas Brothers, The Remember This Tour. This is going to be epic. And I may even print out my mobile ticket so I can tape it keep it forever in my journal.
