It Only Takes Five Minutes

When I started working out in 2014 I told myself “just walk five minutes per day”. This may not sound like a lot, but it also didn’t sound like a lot. It didn’t overwhelm me and I started right away.

After the first month I added five more minutes, and then five more, and so on. By the summer I was walking 30-45 minutes per day, six days per week. In September I started running again and attending Weight Watchers meetings for the first time. 
Twenty months later I had lost forty pounds. I’ve kept it off for twenty months and now am a leader for Weight Watchers. I never would have known that five minutes a day would change my life so dramatically, but it was the small step to a wonderful journey.

If you are starting a new workout routine this month, be kind to yourself and be patient. You didn’t gain the weight overnight and it’s gonna take some time to get it off, and most importantly, keep it off. You can do it. Start small. Stay positive. Nurture your soul. And remember you can start with as little as five minutes and turn it into something amazing.
